About Ana Velez
Ana Velez (1982) started a Bachelor of Arts (Painting) at the Faculdade de Belas-Artes da Universidade de Lisboa, Portugal in 2000. During this time she also spent 3 years at the Accademia Albertina delle Belle Arti di Torino, Italy before returning to complete her degree in 2007. She went on to complete a Master of Arts (Painting) at the Belas-Artes da Universidade de Lisboa in 2011.
She has exhibited regularly throughout Europe in both solo and group shows, biennales and art fairs since 2003 and is currently preparing for her next collection show at Under Dogs Gallery, Lisbon in February, 2019.
Velez has consistently produced site-specific urban art in Portugal and Italy since 2003 including her most recent project DAS DEZ AO MEIO-DIA, 2018 in Óbidos, Portugal, a collaboration with Joana Gomes, Maria Sassetti and Xana Sousa.

Velez currently divides her time between Lisbon, Portugal and Madrid, Spain. She is co-founder and an active member of Vazarte, a multidisciplinary collective dedicated to creating reflective art projects, art spaces and urban art creations. In 2015, she also co-founded Atelier Contencioso with three other artists, with whom she shares a studio and authorship of the artistic interventions at Rio Maravilha [Lisbon, Portugal] and the installation Mamba-de-Jameson on the facade of Pensão Amor (Lisbon, Portugal).
